Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 July 2026

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By using thepsychperspective.in (the “Site”) or booking a session through it, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are booking on behalf of someone else, or as a parent/legal guardian for a minor, you agree to these Terms both on your own behalf and, where applicable, as described in Section 5.

Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

2. About the Practice

The Psych Perspective is a solo practice operated by Simran Rani, Counseling Psychologist, MA Psychology, registered with the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) under NCAHP Reg. No. 99-4742-0504-5668 (2025).

For clarity: this registration is under the NCAHP framework for allied and healthcare professionals, not a Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) registration as a Clinical Psychologist. The services offered are counseling psychology services - support with concerns such as anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, and related presenting issues - rather than the clinical diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology that falls within RCI-registered clinical psychology or psychiatric practice. If your needs fall outside this scope, the practice may refer you to an appropriately qualified professional.

The Telangana State Mental Health Authority (TSMHA) registration required under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 applies to mental health establishments that maintain dedicated clinical infrastructure. It does not apply to this practice’s current setup as a solo counseling practice providing online and in-person consultations without such an establishment.

3. Nature of Our Services

We offer:

  • Online sessions, conducted via video call (Google Meet), and
  • In-person sessions, at locations across Hyderabad (the specific service areas are listed on our booking page).

Services are provided to teenagers (with parent/legal guardian involvement - Section 5), young adults, and working professionals. A booking request submitted through /book is a request only; it becomes a confirmed appointment once reviewed and confirmed by the clinician, who may decline a request or ask for an in-person consultation instead of an online one if she judges that clinically appropriate.

4. Not an Emergency or Crisis Service

This Site and this practice are not equipped to handle mental health emergencies. We do not provide 24/7 crisis intervention, cannot respond immediately to messages or bookings, and are not a substitute for emergency psychiatric care.

If you are in crisis, or in danger of harming yourself or someone else, please contact emergency services immediately, or reach out to a crisis helpline:

  • Tele MANAS (Government of India, 24/7): 1800-89-14416 (toll-free) or dial 14416

This helpline is independent of The Psych Perspective and is not limited to our clients.

5. Eligibility, Minors, and Booking on Behalf of Others

5.1 Booking for Yourself (Adult)

If you are an adult booking for yourself, your submission and e-signature constitute your own informed consent to the terms described in the consent record shown during booking.

5.2 Booking for a Minor (Under 18)

If the client is under 18:

  • Only a parent or legal guardianmay book and provide consent on the minor’s behalf. A friend may never do so, and other family members (siblings, spouses, etc.) may not do so either.
  • The parent/legal guardian provides their own name, email, and mobile number, reviews the consent terms, and signs on the minor’s behalf, confirming they are legally authorized to consent to psychological services for the minor.
  • The practice relies on the guardian’s own representation of their identity and relationship to the minor at the time of booking.

5.3 Booking for Another Adult (“Proxy” Booking)

If you book on behalf of another adult (a friend or family member), you acknowledge that:

  • This is a scheduling request only- it does not itself constitute the client’s own informed consent to therapy;
  • The client retains the sole right to accept, decline, reschedule, or discontinue the session;
  • We will not share the client’s session information with youunless the client themselves consents to that - booking on someone’s behalf does not give you access to their confidential information;
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the contact details you provide and for confirming the client is willing to be contacted about this booking.

6. Informed Consent and Telemedicine

Depending on how a booking is made, one of three consent records is presented and signed before an appointment is confirmed:

  • Client consent - an adult booking for themself reviews and signs the consent terms directly.
  • Guardian consent- where the client is a minor, the parent or legal guardian reviews and signs on the minor’s behalf, affirming they are legally authorized to do so and that consent is given in accordance with applicable law governing the processing of a minor’s personal data.
  • Proxy scheduling acknowledgment - where a friend or family member books for another adult, they sign an acknowledgment of the scheduling-request terms in Section 5.3 - this is explicitly notthe client’s own informed consent, and the client remains free to accept, decline, or end the engagement at any point.

Whichever applies, the consent record also covers: that a booking is a request, not a confirmed appointment, until reviewed by the clinician; that fees are communicated before your first session and cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice (Section 11); that for online sessions, you (or the adult signing on your behalf) are responsible for having a private, stable connection on your end; and that you consent to being contacted at the phone number and email you provide, including during your stated preferred contact window.

Where you initiate an online consultation by booking through the Site, your consent to receive services via telemedicine is treated as implied, consistent with India’s Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020. Where the practice initiates contact, or for certain interventions, explicit consent will be sought separately. The clinician retains professional discretion to decline an online session and request an in-person consultation instead, where she judges the clinical presentation is not suitable for remote delivery.

7. Confidentiality

What you share with us - including the fact that you are seeking or receiving services, your clinical notes, and any diagnosis or assessment - is kept confidential. We will not disclose it to third parties without your consent, except:

  • Where there is an imminent risk of serious harm to you or to another person;
  • Where disclosure is necessary to report suspected abuse of a child, elder, or other vulnerable person;
  • Where required by a court order or other binding legal mandate.

See our Privacy Policy for how your data is stored and who can access it.

8. Advance Directives

Consistent with Section 5 of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, if you have a legally valid advance directive describing how you wish (or do not wish) to be treated during a mental health crisis, or have nominated a representative to make decisions on your behalf, please share it with us and we will take it into account to the extent it applies to the services we provide.

9. The Resonance Board

The Resonance Board is a psychoeducational and general-information resource- a space for anonymous questions and general reflections. It is not personalized therapy, clinical advice, or a diagnostic service, and using it does not create a therapist-client relationship.

By submitting a question, you agree that:

  • You will not include your name, contact details, or other identifying information within the question text itself;
  • Any reply you receive is general in nature and not a substitute for individualized therapy;
  • You grant us permission to edit, redact, and publish an anonymized version of your question and our reply, on the Site and our associated channels, for as long as we choose to keep it published - this is at our sole discretion, and your email address and the unredacted question text are never published. You may ask us to remove a previously published Q&A at any time by emailing contact@thepsychperspective.in;
  • Replies are written personally by the clinician - never by AI or automated systems;
  • Submissions are limited to three per email address per 24-hour period, and we may moderate, redact, decline to answer, or decline to publish any submission.

10. No Testimonials, No Guarantees

Consistent with professional ethical standards for mental health practitioners in India, we do not solicit or publish testimonials or endorsements from current or former clients, and nothing on this Site should be read as a guarantee of a particular outcome or “cure.” Individual results vary, and no fee arrangement offered by the practice is contingent on a particular outcome.

11. Fees, Payment, and Cancellations

  • Session fees are communicated to you before your first session. Accepted payment modes: UPI and bank transfer.
  • Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations within this window, or no-shows, may result in forfeiture of the session fee, as that time was reserved exclusively for you.
  • Arriving late to a session does not extend its length; sessions run for the standard duration (55–60 minutes) out of respect for other clients’ scheduled time.

12. Your Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when booking, and let us know promptly if your contact details or availability change;
  • Consent to being contacted at the phone number and email you provide, including during your stated preferred contact window.

You agree not to:

  • Submit unlawful, harassing, or abusive content;
  • Misrepresent your identity, another person’s identity, or your relationship to a client you are booking for;
  • Attempt to access data or accounts you are not authorized to access (including the admin panel).

13. Intellectual Property

The content, design, and materials on this Site (excluding user-submitted questions) belong to The Psych Perspective or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.

14. Third-Party Services

We use third-party providers to operate parts of the Site (see our Privacy Policy for details), and we link to third-party platforms (Google Meet, Practo, Instagram). We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of those third-party services.

15. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Services are provided on a professional best-efforts basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Psych Perspective is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site, except where such liability cannot be excluded under Indian law or where it arises from our own negligence or willful misconduct.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability in a way that is not permitted under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 or other applicable Indian law.

16. Termination

The clinician may decline to take on a client, or may discontinue care with reasonable notice and an appropriate referral where clinically indicated. You may discontinue services at any time; please let us know so we can update your booking status.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated to active clients directly where practical.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts located in Hyderabad, Telangana shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from your use of the Site or our services.

Before initiating any legal proceeding, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute amicably through direct negotiation for a period of 30 days. If that fails, the dispute will be referred to binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, before a sole arbitrator mutually agreed upon by the parties, with the seat and venue of arbitration in Hyderabad and proceedings conducted in English.
